Gulfstream Receives Federal Aviation Administration Production Certificate for G650


Gulfstream Aerospace Corp. recently received two important certifications for its new flagship aircraft, the ultra-large-cabin, ultra-long-range G650.  The company received the Production Certificate (PC) from the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Atlanta Manufacturing Inspection District Office.  Gulfstream also earned a Type Certificate for the G650 from the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).

China unveils world's longest high-speed railway line

East Midlands Airport set for festive flying at Christmas

Thousands of people are packing their suitcases, ready to travel through East Midlands Airport over the Christmas and New Year period.

86,500 people are expected to travel through the airport between Friday 21st December 2012 and Wednesday 2nd January 2013 , a 0.6% increase when compared to the same period in 2011/12.

Friday 21st December 2012, marks the beginning of the festive getaway, with approximately 9,000 passengers jetting off to sunnier climes, with Wednesday 2nd January following closely behind, as passengers return to the UK to prepare for work and school.

Malaysia Airlines Set To Delivers Christmas Cheer On Board

 In conjunction with the year-end festive season, Malaysia Airlines will delight passengers on its selected international flights from 24 to 26 December with specially created Christmas inflight menu. The cuisines will be served in all classes and will feature traditional favourites, including roast turkey with chestnut stuffing and cranberry jelly as well as a Christmas log cake.

New York's Midtown West voted as favourite destination for New year eve celebration

There is no better place to be on New Year’s eve than New York City’s Midtown West. This was revealed in a poll conducted by priceline.com in its 9th annual list of the Top 50 destinations for ringing in the New Year. The annual list is based on booking request made by thousands of people on its Name Your Own Price® hotel service for the days around New Year's Eve.  French quarter in New Orleans came a close second. The all time favourite destination, Strip North in Las Vegas came third for party lovers who wants to ring the new year in style.

myanmar(Yangoon)-Air Bagan flight W9-011 accident during landing

 An accident happened to Air Bagan flight W9-011 during landing near Heho airport at 08:50 a.m. on 25 December 2012.  The Fokker 100 aircraft was carrying 65 passengers, 6 crew members including a pilot and a co-pilot.

The emergency exit was opened as soon as the aircraft landed in the nearby field and passengers were evacuated by our cabin crew.  Eight passengers were injured as the aircraft caught fire and were taken to the nearest Sao San Tun hospital in Taung Gyi for treatment.

Gatwick disappointed by CAA's initial ruling to continue to regulate Stansted

 On Thursday 20 December 2012, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) announced that it was minded to continue regulating Stansted Airport once it moves into new ownership. Gatwick Airport responded by saying:

“Airports that are free to compete promote and protect the interests of passengers and it is our view that competition, not regulation, is the best mechanism to achieve that. That is why we are disappointed by today’s preliminary ruling by the CAA to continue to regulate Stansted Airport.

Connecticut Convention Center donates more than 120 Toys to Hartford area childen

 Employees of the Connecticut Convention Center were certainly in the Holiday spirit, as they donated more than 120 toys to local children in need on Thursday afternoon.  The toys were delivered to 96.5 FM’s “We Are the Children” toy drive held at the Toy Chest in West Hartford, CT.

 “We hold a toy drive each Holiday season,” explains Michael Costelli, General Manager of the Convention Center.  “Our associates were very generous this year, donating 121 toys.  The car we drove to deliver them was packed to the brim!”

Connecticut Convention Center names new Catering Sales Manager

 The Connecticut Convention Center recently named Emily Borders as its new Catering Sales Manager. In her role, Emily will be responsible for soliciting new accounts, nurturing and growing existing client relationships, and onsite management of client programs.

Emily began working at the Convention Center in January 2011 as Operations Coordinator and quickly excelled in her role, earning a promotion after only two months.  Emily holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication and Sports Management from Eastern Connecticut State University in Willimantic, CT.

Adolphus Tower adds healthy casual restaurant in downtown Dallas

 The owners of Adolphus Tower are adding a new restaurant space to its 26-story tower at 1412 Main St. in downtown Dallas.

The 2,600-square-foot space is being developed for Freshii, a healthy restaurant concept, which is making its first foray into the Dallas market.

The addition by the Adolphus Tower is part of a growing trend of downtown Dallas office buildings upping the properties' amenity base for tenants. Earlier this year, Cousins Properties announced various upgrades to its newly purchased 2100 Ross Ave. building.

The restaurant has locations in Los Angeles, New York, Toronto and abroad. Freshii uses more than 70 fresh ingredients and dressings in its menu.

Eleven Centara Hotels & Resorts properties have been awarded by TripAdvisor as being amongst the top-ranked hotels in their locality.
The rankings are based on ratings supplied by guests and travellers, who mark the properties in a range of five categories, from “excellent” to “terrible”.

Over 1,100 Dubai Residents Test-Drive New A380 Concourse

Dubai Airports, operator of the world’s fourth busiest hub for international passengers and freight, on Saturday conducted the first operational trial involving members of the public, to test the readiness of the newly built Concourse A – the world’s first purpose-built A380 facility at Dubai International’s Terminal 3. The major trial follows a comprehensive series of preliminary exercises that were carried out at the facility in recent weeks with the participation of employees of the airport and its partners.

Travel for the Christmas and New Year’s holiday takes off at San Francisco International Airport (SFO), with a variety of fun, festive events planned to make the season bright.

Bristol Airport prepares for a busy Christmas

Bristol Airport is preparing for a busy period in the run up to Christmas, with over 56,000 passengers expected to pass through the terminal over the course of four days from Friday 21 December. 

As well as those heading for sunnier climes or visiting friends and family overseas for the festive season, December also sees the start of the ski season. Thousands of seats are available on flights to Austria, Bulgaria, France, Italy and Switzerland, including Helvetic Airways service to Zurich on which ski equipment can be carried free of charge.

Ryanair celebrated its new Bristol route by releasing 100,000 seats across its European network, at prices starting from £8 for travel on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday in January. These “all in” low fares will be available on over 1,000 of Ryanair’s European routes but must be booked on www.ryanair.com before midnight (24:00hrs) Monday 24th December 2012.

Aloft Hotels Debuts in Tampa

Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide and Liberty Group announced that Starwood’s fast-growing Aloft® brand will soon debut in Tampa, Florida. Opening in early 2014 along the Tampa Riverwalk, Aloft Tampa Downtown will occupy the former Mercantile Bank office building as part of an adaptive re-use project developed, owned and managed by the Liberty Group in a joint-venture partnership with Convergent Capital Partners, which acquired the vacant office building earlier this year. Aegean Air divulge their nine month revenue report!

 AEGEAN reports Nine-Month 2012 revenue of €511.3m, 5% lower compared to the same period last year.

Passengers carried totaled 4.9m, a 6% reduction compared to 2011, with load factor improving from 69.2% to 73.9%, however with lower average fares in the domestic market for a fourth consecutive year.
