From 22 June to 6 July 2013, London will celebrate contemporary Arab culture with the second edition of the popular Shubbak festival. To contribute to the cultural offerings in the capital, luxury hotel residence Grosvenor House Apartments by Jumeirah Living will be hosting a talk by emerging star of Syrian stage and screen; Ammar Haj Ahmad as part of its ongoing At Home Residents’ Programme. The Shubbak festival celebrates the growing cultural influence of the city’s Arab population, as well as artists originating from countries including Algeria, Iraq, Lebanon and Syria. Grosvenor House Apartments will showcase Ammar Haj Ahmad as a major Arab artist and a rising star outside of the Middle East. On 19 June 2013, Ammar will give an audience of residents and special guests a fascinating insight into his career so far as a leading Syrian actor, poet and filmmaker. He will also discuss upcoming films including ‘Round Trip’, a premier independent feature film in which he co-stars and which will be shown at the ICA for the Shubbak festival on 4 July 2013.
