Mehdorn urges the Senate to show flexibility
airberlin CEO Hartmut Mehdorn has appealed to the Berlin Senate to grant special authorisation for certain flights to take off or land at Tegel Airport in the early morning between 5.30 and 6.00 a.m., thereby avoiding breaking the promise that no flights would have to be cancelled due to the delay in the opening of Berlin-Brandenburg Airport (BER). He was reacting to the decision of Berlin’s Aviation Authority to authorise late evening flights at the off-peak times needed by airberlin, but not early morning flights. Mehdorn said: “We fully understand that the people of Berlin need to rest and would therefore ensure that the early morning period is managed in a highly responsible way.”
