Friday, June 01, 2012 - Airport International Group (AIG), the Jordanian consortium responsible for the rehabilitation, expansion, and operation of the Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA), and Royal Jordanian Airlines were recently awarded certificates for achievements in the International Air Transport Association’s (IATA) Fast Travel Program. As part of the program, the QAIA and RJ were able to demonstrate a high-level of performance in several key areas: passenger check-in, rapid luggage check-in, flight re-booking, and self-boarding. The QAIA and RJ are only the second airport/national carrier pair in the region to receive this distinction.

IATA and the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) have unveiled plans for a distance-based learning program aimed specifically at those working in the air transport sector whose responsibilities include any aspect of insurance.
Candidates will work towards the Diploma in Insurance, an internationally-recognized qualification delivered by the CII, which will be enhanced by a dedicated airline transport procurement module developed by IATA.

IATA applauded historic agreement between the European Commission (EC) and the US Transportation Security Administration (TSA) to recognize each other’s air cargo security programs. The agreement is the culmination of seven years of effort by regulators and industry stakeholders to achieve alignment of air cargo security measures. This will avoid redundancies and allocate screening resources most effectively.
